Easyjet call centre staff face chop

Jobs could be flying off abroard

As many as 168 jobs are expected to be axed at another high-profile Luton firm.

EasyJet's entire call centre workforce face the chop after the company began a 90-day consultation period and told staff it's looking to relocate abroad.

And workers at the busy site said they feel betrayed after putting in the extra hours to bail the company out of a backlog of 80,000 complaints.

One call centre member said: "This company was in a terrible state last year because of so many flight cancellations.

"Our staff got them out of a hole and this is how we've been repaid. It's not good."

Thursday's announcement came in the same week another big Luton-based business, Huntleigh Healthcare, confirmed up to 145 workers could go from its Dallow Road site.

For the full story on both companies, see this week's Luton News - available at all good news outlets in the area.
