English Defence League leader Stephen Lennon has appeared in court this morning charged with entering the US on a false passport.
Lennon, who goes by the name Tommy Robinson, appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody, according to an EDL spokesman.
He travelled to New York in September to speak at a conference.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the unemployed 29-year-old had been charged with having “a false identity document with improper intention contrary to Section 4 of the Identity Documents Act 2010”.
