editorial image

A SHOP owner in Luton was fined for selling alcohol to minors after not asking a 16-year-old buying a can of lager for proof of ID.

Awais Ali of 31 Farley Hill Road in Luton failed the test purchasing check and was summoned for a formal interview which he failed to attend on two occasions. The decision was made to prosecute him and he pleaded guilty to the charges and was ordered to pay a fine of £735. Council enforcement officers will be giving him advise so he does not repeat the offence.
