Villagers are breathing a sigh of relief today as the floods in Caddington are finally drying up.

Roads were blocked all around Caddington and other villages to the south of Luton and cars were abandoned in flood water.

Three people were rescued by firefighters when cars were stranded in flood water on Luton Road, shortly after 4am on Thursday.

Motorists and others are still urged to take great care when driving in this weather as trees and other debris may be on the road having been loosened by the wind and rain.

More rain is forecast over the next few days.

The Environment Agency have recorded a possible risk of flooding at the River Lea in Stockingstone Road, Luton.
