Flytipping fury as council contractors dump rubbish

editorial image

A couple were horrified to discover a mountain of rubbish dumped next to their house in Denham Close on Thursday.

Mandy and Jerry Galvin called the council to complain about the flytipping, suspecting it was council contractors working nearby who were responsible.

They said they thought it was council contractors fitting a new kitchen at a nearby premises who had dumped the goods.

A Luton Borough Council spokesperson said: “We can confirm that the offending items were removed last week and apologise to residents unreservedly for this unacceptable situation. We immediately carried out an investigation and will no longer be using this contractor.”
