Luton Mayor Syd Knight prepares to lay his wreath

People across Luton paused yesterday to remember those who have given their lives in conflicts past and present.

In the annual ceremony outside the Town Hall, wreaths were laid at the war memorial by Luton mayor Syd Knight and representatives of ex-service organisations.

The start and end of the two-minute silence was marked by the sounding of the ‘Last Post’ and ‘Reveille’ by Mr Alan Norman of the Salvation Army.

And this morning people gathered at the Stopsley war memorial to pay their respects.
