Good Samaritan saved teenager from gang
15-year-old forced to the ground
Police are searching for a Good Samaritan who helped a teenage boy who was robbed and assaulted by a gang of youths on Saturday.
The 15-year-old boy was walking with his girlfriend by the tennis courts in Wardown Park when six youths of Asian appearance approached them.
The gang attacked the teen and forced him to the floor before demanding that the victim handed over his mobile phone. It was during the assault that a man came over to help the victim and shouted at the gang, who ran away.
The Good Samaritan, who is described as a white man, about 5ft 10ins tall, in his late 20s, with brown hair and a beard, checked the boy was OK before leaving the area. He was wearing a zip-up cardigan and blue jeans.
The gang were all described as aged between 13 and 15, about 5ft 8ins tall, of Asian appearance and slim build, with short spiky hair. All wore hooded tops and tracksuit bottoms or jeans.
