POLICE have released pictures of Indian gold and gem stone jewellery that was taken from a house in Buckingham Drive, Luton.

The items were stolen between 6.30pm on Thursday January 26 and 8.50am the following day.

The haul includes a ladies Dolce & Gabbana watch, a man’s TAG F1 watch, an Apple iTouch, a Nintendo DS and distinctive jewellery.

Det Seg Dale Mepstead said: “This jewellery cannot be replaced and is of great sentimental value to the owner who is devastated by its loss. I would ask anyone considering buying second hand jewellery to check to ensure it is not stolen, and if in doubt, contact the police, immediately.”

Det Seg Mepstead said people who take this type of gold jewellery usually try to sell it on to local jewellers, second hand shops or members of the public.

He said: “I would also like to advise anyone with valuable jewellery to make sure they keep pictures of each piece and to use a property marking system such as Smartwater to enable the police to reunite you with your property to you should it be stolen. If you have large amounts of valuable jewellery it may also be a good idea to consider keeping it in a bank instead of in your home.”

Call DS Mepstead in confidence on 01582 473195 with information, text 07786 200011 or call Bedfordshire Police on 101.
