International Sewa day a resounding success
Community
Luton’s OM group organised a “massively” successful Sewa (selfless service) day earlier this month.
More than 100 volunteers – aged from three to 70 – took part in four projects ranging from helping the hospice to collecting unwanted junk mail.
Sewa is a universal concept which involves performing acts of kindness without expectation of anything in return.
OM spokesman Vikas Acharya said: “It was massively successful – a great day not only to give back to our local community but also to bring it together.
“The experience is always rewarding and I would encourage everyone to come and see the true meaning of Sewa for themselves.
“All that matters is you do a good deed on the day – the bonus is that it’s a lot of fun too.”
