Luton Art exhibition opens at Wardown

The best artwork from Beds, Herts and Bucks on show

An exhibition which aims to support local artists and inspire people to be creative has been opened at Wardown Park Museum.

Museums Luton launched Luton Art 2009 on Tuesday (November 24) which showcases the work of artists from across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

Luton Art is supported by the Murry Barford Trust and is open to artists working in the fields of fine art and photography.

This year, the exhibition received twice as many entries compared to last year and, in addition to the hundreds of works submitted by adult artists, nearly 40 were submitted from youngsters aged between five and 16.

The overall winning artworks and photographs, which have been chosen by a panel of judges, are set to be revealed to the public on Saturday December 5.

Museums Luton is also encouraging visitors to to choose their own favourite artwork for the Visitors Choice award, with a chance for anyone who votes to win a prize. Voting closes on February 14.
