Luton author writes family history

Find out about farming in days gone by

Popular Luton author Jenny Fensom, who usually pens pet books, has turned her attention to autobiography.

The former Streatley cattery owner, who has retired to Sidmouth in Devon with her brother Anthony, has written 'The Fensoms: A Family Tapestry - A History of a Bedfordshire Farming Family'.

It's an entertaining account of what life was like in the area in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.

Jenny - who has also penned Tortoise Talk, Cat-Etudes and Wag Tales - was helped by her brother Anthony, who did pioneering research into the pre-natal diagnosis of genetic diseases at Guy's Hospital before he retired two years ago.

She said: "The result is a fascinating picture of farming life and personal dramas both tragic and comic - like Great Aunt Bertha's elopement, Great Uncle Alf's minor - and often amusing - altercations with the law and Great Aunt Olive's moonlit flit."

The Fensoms: A Family Tapestry is being published in a limited edition. To buy a copy, ring Jenny on 01395 576825.
