Basketball mad Luton entrepreneur sets up web business
A basketball-mad Luton entrepreneur is launching a new web-based business after securing financial support at an innovative investment event.
Stephan Eyeson, 20, from Hockwell Ring, is launching a new website establishing links between budding basketball stars and coaches from across the globe next month, the first website of its kind in Europe.
And he is funding it thanks to an 'angel' investor after attending internet company Angels den's Speed-Funding event, a concept similar to speed dating, where he pitched to 15 high-net-worth individuals who have at least 250,000 to invest.
Canterbury Christ Church University student Stephan was inspired to start getprobasketball.com as he was frustrated at the lack of information available to players and the time consuming nature of making contact with individual coaches.
He said: "Without funding I could not have got the business going. When I approached Angels den I was fortunate enough to speak to the founder, Bill morrow.
"Bill offered me plenty of advice and suggested that my business idea would work well at one of their SpeedFunding events where I could meet 15 Angel investors on a one-to-one basis."
