Man arrested after camera advert robberies
Police in Luton are appealing for help from the public after two robberies were reported in the town after each victim saw an advert on the internet offering a camera for sale.
The first happened on August 7 in Shelley Road at 8.20pm after the 40 old victim had seen a camera advertised for sale on GumTree and arranged to meet the seller at an address along the road. Before the victim could knock on the door a man stepped out from behind a vehicle and threatened the victim with a screwdriver before taking cash.
The second incident happened at 5.30pm on August 11 in Dalby Close when the 36-year-old victim responded to a similar advert. The victim had arranged to meet the seller at an address in the close but when he arrived two men asked to see the money and when the victim refused he was robbed of his mobile telephone.
A man has been arrested in connection with both incidents and released on police bail pending further investigations.
Anyone with information relating to this incident should contact Beds Police on 101, send a text to 07786 200011, or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
