L13-079 Connexions, Alma Street, Luton, had glass in door kicked in this morning Connie Primmer JR 4 23.1.13

A man is being detained at Luton Police Station after a break-in at a youth advice centre yesterday (January 23).

Connexions in Alma Street, part of Luton Youth Service, was broken into just before 7am, leaving a smashed panel of glass in the front door.

Nothing was taken and a man in his thirties was arrested.

A Beds Police spokesperson said: “The damage to the building was seen on CCTV at 6.40am and reported to us. Then at 8.51am Connexions staff arrived at the building and reported the burglarly. Someone had searched the first floor office but nothing appears to have been taken. Police are investigating.”

Connexions offers people aged 11-19, or up to 25 with additional needs, help with personal problems and support in finding a job.

The centre was closed yesterday following the incident and reopened today.
