Man jailed for killing friend with heroin dose
A MAN who gave a fatal dose of heroin to his friend has been jailed for three and a half years.
St Albans Crown Court heard that Andrew Parsons, 44, of no fixed abode, gave an injection to his friend Joseph Docherty, 43, at his flat in New Bedford Road on May 3 after the pair had bought a £10 bag of the drug together.
Docherty fell asleep and did not regain consciousness.
Police were called to the scene and Parsons was arrested and charged with manslaughter, administrating noxious substances and possession with intent to supply a prohibited drug, by officers from the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Team.
At a plea and case management hearing on Monday (July 23), Judge HHJ Gullick reduced Parsons’ sentence because of his early admission and guilty plea.
