A man suffered a suspected stab wound yesterday (Thursday) in an incident close to where a man almost had his hand cut off earlier in the week.

Armed police were called to Liverpool Road at 2.40pm after a 20-year-old man went into a shop in Gordon Street with a stomach injury.

A police spokesman said: “We believe the injury happened in an alleyway between Liverpool Road and Hatters Way.

“The armed response unit was sent as it looked like a knife injury.”

On Monday Inkerman Street was closed off after a 23-year-old man suffered a severe arm injury. Police believe was a large knife or axe was used in the attack.

No-one has been arrested in connection with either incident.
