Man attacked by gang of six for his rucksack

SIX men attacked a 25-year-old in an attempted robbery on Tuesday (January 31).

The incident happened at around 6.45pm in Old Bedford Road, Luton, when the victim was walking away from the town centre.

The group of males punched him in the back of the head and face while trying and failing to take a rucksack he was carrying.

Det Con Jo Bosson said: “This was a particularly nasty and violent assault which has left the victim very upset. We know that there were members of the public close to the incident when it took place and I would urge them to come forward to help us find the offenders and stop them from committing further offences.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was nearby at the time of the robbery, or anyone else who may have information – however small or insignificant they think it is – that could help us. Don’t dismiss your information as unimportant – even tiny details which don’t seem relevant now might become useful later on in the investigation.”

The victim was left shaken by the incident and unable to offer any sort of a description of his attackers although he did say that the man who punched him several times to the face was wearing a very distinctive blue jacket.

If you have information relating to this incident, contact DC Bosson, in confidence, on 01582 473152, the non emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011.

Alternatively contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.

Well said Third_Eye_Blind!!! What's a Ringlefinch though?! There's no way you can assume every crime is a racist crime, how ridiculous!

TROLL ALERT! That vile stench you are smelling is indeed the local racist Paul R. No need for alarm though, as he is only a LEVEL 1 Ringlefinch, with a particularly small brain, and very dark heart. Your neighbourhood TROLLHUNTER - yours truly - has spotted him and got him cornered, and be chasing him back underneath a bridge soon. Meanwhile please read the following PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: The best known way to deal with a troll is not to "feed" them, that is to say, deny them the reaction they desire. So please ignore his comments and feel free to discuss this article in a fair and balanced way. Meanwhile if anyone has any real information regarding the disgusting crime mentioned in this article please contact the Police or Crimestoppers and hopefully the scum who committed this act will be caught.

And that's really the only description he gave? Come on LT, you can't cover it up, everyone in Luton knows what's going on. If the shoe was on the other foot you wouldn't hide the facts.
