Meet amazing Max, the dog show star
Award-winning Max
It’s tough being a top dog.
When Max, a five-year-old cross deerhound/greyhound, unexpectedly ran off with six rosettes at a recent show, he simply flopped on the grass for a well-earned rest.
Julia Poole, 46, whose partner Mick Smith, 55 adopted the award-winning pooch, said: “We only went for something to do and we couldn’t believe it when he won everything he entered.
“I had a big beam on my face all day.
“It was quite funny because all the people there were taking it quite seriously and some were quite jealous.”
The Age Concern volunteer, who lives in Leagrave, said: “Max is a wonderful dog, he’s beautiful.
“He’s a big dog but he’s like a little baby, so soft and gentle.
“We’ve only had him about five months and the fun dog show in Pulloxhill was the first we’ve ever been to.”
Mick agreed to look after Max when his original owner, John Hilton, was working away from home.
