New bins help shoppers recycle

The Mall Arndale Luton introduces new recycling programme

Shoppers in The Mall Arndale Luton can now be even more environmentally friendly as they browse for bargains.

The shopping centre has introduced a new recycling programme designed to ensure that all waste from the mall is either recycled or sent for the most environmentally friendly disposal.

Customers are being asked to put waste food and liquids in special bins so that all other rubbish will be clean and ready for sorting into its various recycling streams.

Shop staff will also be putting their waste in designated areas where it will be collected and, again, sorted before disposal.

General manager Brian McFarland said: "Our retail staff are very keen to work with us and customers have soon understood the very clear and simple signage on our bins.

"We hope to increase our recycling from 35 per cent to 80 per cent."
