Police find body in hunt for Luton man

Police investigating the disappearance of a 38-year-old Luton man have discovered a body in water at Roydon Marina.Edward Gillespie was last seen at the marina’s hotel near Harlow, Essex, on 21 December.

Officers from Essex Police were called to the marina at about 10.40 on Saturday after a member of the public on a boat spotted a body in the water.

Det Ch Insp Stuart Hooper said: “The body has not been formally identified but we have suspended our search.”

He added: “[Mr Gillespie’s] family have been informed of this discovery.

“We would like to place on the record our thanks to everyone who has assisted us in our search for Ed and are very sorry that the news we have is so sad.”
