Police appeal for NHS woman to come forward following stabbing

DETECTIVES investigating the stabbing of a father and son at a house in Luton on Tuesday night are appealing for a woman who helped tend to one of the victims to come forward and help with their enquiries.

Officers from the Beds and Herts Major Crime Unit are expected to complete forensics examinations of the house in Dumfries Street today following the incident which left a 33-year-old man fighting for his life.

Det Con Insp Mark Ross is keen to identify a woman who tended to one of the victims following the assault. She is described as white and had an NHS badge pinned to her clothes. She left the scene once the paramedics arrived but police want to speak with her as she may have information about what happened.

Det Con Insp Ross said: “This was a violent and sustained attack inside a family home. We are still unsure of the motive for these assaults but whatever it may be it is vital we track down those responsible. If anyone has information about this incident then please contact the police.”

The incident happened shortly before 8pm. The men were at home where they live together with their respective wives and a young child when three masked men knocked on the door. As it was opened the offenders forced their way into the property before carrying out a violent assault on the younger man, inflicting multiple stab wounds, as well as stabbing the older man. No one else in the house was injured.

The offenders left in a white ‘Transit’ style van and detectives are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen it in the area of Dumfries Street before and after the incident occurred.

Anyone with information, or the woman who assisted at the scene, should call the Operation Harvester Incident Room in confidence, on 01707 355959 the non emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
