HIP-HOP megastar Jay-Z made a flying visit to a Luton recording studio in the early hours of Friday morning – and was so impressed with the facilities on offer that he returned again the following night.
Rapper Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, is thought to have landed in his private jet at Luton Airport before heading to Koolworld Studios, ran by the Luton Community Arts Trust, to record a track.
Linda Farrell, aka Muddie, of SNAP 33, who manage the studios, told the Herald & Post: “A member of staff got a phone call from one of his people on Friday afternoon and she thought it was someone having a laugh, she only realised when they mentioned his label Def Jam records.
“Apparently this was the only studio in the area that was accessible and had all the equipment he needed.”
Jay-Z, who is married to former Destiny’s Child star Beyonce, arrived in the early hours of Saturday morning and an engineer opened up the studio for him.
The Hard Knock Life rapper, who headlines the Radio One Hackney Weekend on Saturday, then decided to pay another visit to Koolworld on Saturday night.
Linda added: “Apparently he got a really good recording of one track and was really delighted with it.
“Hopefully this will bring the studio some kudos.”
