Herald&Post reporter Steve Nolan joined a record 55,000 other running enthusiasts at this year’s Bupa Great North Run on Sunday.
Steve completed the 31.1 mile Newcastle to South Shields half marathon in one hour and 57 minutes.
He has so far raised around £300 for the Alzheimer’s Society with sponsor money still coming in.
He said: “It was such an amazing day despite the fact that it rained fairly heavily for the first five miles.
“There were literally thousands of people lining the route to cheer us runners on – the atmosphere was electric. I’m delighted to have raised money for such a worthwhile cause.”
