SLIDESHOW: Luton's first African Festival
Organisers hope themed spectacular will become a regular event
Hundreds of people flocked to People's Park, Luton, on Saturday for the town's first African festival.
The sun shone on the festivities, which included a barbecue, food stalls, music and dancing, and festival goers enjoyed a peformance from youngsters aged four to 15, who make up the children's dance group Osagyefomba.
Mayor of Luton Councillor Norris Bullock opened the day, which also included a cultural show and football tournamant.
The Ghana Luton team lifted the soccer trophy, after winning the final game two goals to one.
Organisers, who will now make the event an annual fixture on the town calendar, already plan to make it bigger and better next year.
The event was organised by the Centre Of Hope and raised 300 for the children's charity.
