Snow angels to the rescue

Kind-hearted locals showed their community spirit by sending gritters to the rescue of Keech Hospice Care this morning (January 21).

Council gritters don’t grit Great Bramingham Lane in Luton as it is a private road, but due to heavy snowfall and ice, the road was inaccessible.

Keech Hospice staff tweeted an SOS call asking for locals to send gritters to help.

The tweet said: “Anyone know any gritters? We are up a private lane so the council gritters don’t come up and the lane is treacherous!”

Fortunately, their call was responded to by Caddington Parish Council, Affinity Water and Beds Highways, who all sent gritters for the lane.

Keech Hospice staff later said: “Thank you to all that helped with gritting the lane today –it really shows what a wonderful, caring community we have.”
