A Luton based charity launched a new campaign last week- with help from students on MP Gavin Shuker’s summer school.
Participants packed close to 1000 bags with drawing and colouring materials, chalks and play dough, which will be distributed to schools in September. The undertaking was part of a scheme devised by Level Trust, a charity aimed at removing the barriers to education faced by children in poverty. The project is supported by Love Luton and A Thin Place. Level Trust director Jane Malcolm said: “We are delighted to have the support of Gavin Shuker’s students. (The packs) will be given to children across Luton in order to encourage them to continue learning at home.” The summer school students are next supporting the charity with a jazz night at the Mill Yard on Friday night from 8pm, tickets can be purchased by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
