Unique aquatic images exhibited at Luton's Hat Factory

The launch of a unique exhibition of amazing aquatic pictures at Luton's Hat Factory attracted a wave of high profile attention.

GB Swimstars is an extraordinary display of photography by Simon Wright, which captures impressive images of the UK's swimming sportsmen and women.

Giving the opening speech at the work's launch was the head of swimming in Europe, Laszlo Szakadati.

Craig Hunter, Team England's chef de mission for Delhi 2010 and former Commonwealth swimming team manager, was also spotted browsing the photographs.

A few local celebrities also took the opportunity to have a look, with Luton North MP Kelvin Hopkins and deputy mayor of Luton, Councillor Morel Benard both in attendance, as well as masses of the UK's future Olympic hopefuls from Putteridge Piranhas Swimming Club.

One of the young swimmers at the Piranhas is the subject of one of Simon's images.

The photographic talents of Simon Wright cover swimming, synchronised swimming, diving and water polo.

His images capture the essence of sporting excellence and the commitment of the UK's swimming talents.

GB Swimstars is on display at the Hat Factory, in Bute Street, until Wednesday, February 17.

The exbition is open Monday to Saturday from 9am until 6pm, and is free of charge.
