Terror preacher faces jail

Two men have been convicted of encouraging support for the proscribed terrorist organisation Islamic State.

Anjem Choudary and Mohammed Mizanur Rahman were found guilty on 28 July following a trial at the Old Bailey.

Reporting restrictions were put in place in relation to these convictions - restrictions were lifted today.

Choudary, 49 of Hampton Road, Ilford and Rahman, 33 of North Circular Road, Palmers Green were both found guilty of between 29 June 2014 and 6 March 2015 invited support for a proscribed terrorist organisation, namely ISIL, also known as ISIS or the Islamic State, contrary to section 12 Terrorism Act 2000..

They will be sentenced on September 6.

Choudray has been a regular controversial visitor to Luton and helped to form the now banned Al-Muhajiroun group.
