Thieves escape with haul from home in East Hyde

Beds Police are appealing for witnesses

Thieves who raided a home in the quiet village of East Hyde in broad daylight escaped with jewellery, a games console and a pair of Gucci sunglasses.

Beds Police Priority Crime Investigation Team (PCIT) is investigating the burglary, which happened on Tuesday, June 30, between 8am and 3.45pm, at Viaduct Cottages in the village.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the crime, in which the burglars forced open a patio door and stole necklaces, earrings, a Nintendo Wii console, four controllers, a docking station, a balance board and the Gucci sunglasses with thin frames and tan lenses.

Det Con Lynn Adams, investigating, said because the village was such a quiet spot, someone may remember seeing someone acting suspiciously or an unfamiliar vehicle.

She is also keen to talk to anyone who has been offered goods that they think might be stolen.

"It is unusual to get this sort of offence in East Hyde," said Det Con Adams. "And we would urge motorists, residents and others to cast their minds back and ask themsleves if they saw anything out of the ordinary during that period."

Contact Det Con Adams, in confidence, on 01582 473053, the main Beds Police switchboard on 01234 841212 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
