Top carnival title is Ghana be reason to celebrate

Winners saluted at Hat Factory presentation

The winners of the Luton Carnival parade were announced during a special presentation evening at the Hat Factory on Friday night.

The overall winner of the parade was the Ghana Society, with second place going to the Hare Krishna group and third place to the St Vincent and the Grenadines Association.

The Ghana Society was also victorious in the youth section, and was followed by the Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Care Forum in second and the World of Faith group in third.

The Arndale's Children's Centre took first place in the schools section, followed by Beechwood Primary School and Lea Manor High School in joint second place, and in the newcomers category first place went to the team from Luton Airport, followed by the Arts Council of England and Farley Hill Youth Club in join second.

The prize for the best float went to the Samaritans, with the Pasque Charity in second place, and Hemel Hempstead group Soca took first place in the visitors section, followed by Essensual Rejuvenation from Leicester and Festive Road from Milton Keynes.

Soca also took first place in the adult category, followed by the St Vincent and the Grenadines Association in second and the Samaritans in third.
