Tory parliamentary hopefuls revealed

Pair hoping to for success at next general election

The Conservative party in Luton has named the two candidates it hopes will wrest Luton from the grip of the Labour party at the next general election.

Nigel Huddleston, who will be standing in the Luton South constituency, and Jeremy Brier, who will be contesting Luton North, are kicking off their campaigning after being selected by the town's Conservative Association.

Jeremy, 27, a barrister, currently lives in north-west London but says he is committed to moving to Luton prior to an election being called.

He said: "I have been to a number of ward meetings in the area and crime and anti-social behaviour comes up time and time again. People, including young people, are saying they're more afraid of going out at night than they were five years ago."

Nigel, 37, is a management consultant in the leisure and entertainment industries. He says he got a lot out of his education, and that this, along with crime, Europe and the possibility of homes being built on the Green Belt, will be what he campaigns on.

He said: "It's going to be a difficult race in Luton. But I will make a credible and active MP."
