Uni of Beds under starters orders to help charity
Dame Kelly Holmes kickstarts new partnership
Olympic double gold medalist Dame Kelly Holmes fired the starter's gun on a unique partnership with the University of Bedfordshire last week.
The university's vice chancellor Professor Les Ebdon and the students' union president Lyndsay Murphy teamed up with the athlete to celebrate their commitment to the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust as an associate partner.
The uni is the UK's first to work with the charity in this way and has pledged to raise 25,000 and agreed to host a Backing Talent event in the region next year for around 100 young people and their families.
The trust aims to inspire young people to find and fulfill their potential in sport or in life through its workforce of elite sports performers. It supports young people to participate, stay in and excel in sport.
