Police are dealing with an ongoing incident in Stockholm Way in Marsh Farm this afternoon (September 21).
They were called to the play area behind Whitefield Primary School at 11.18am following reports of six youths armed with baseball bats fighting.
Three people were arrested on suspcion of affray and enquiries are ongoing, including investigation into reports from members of the public of a loud bang.
Inspector Bill Abram who is at the scene said: “We treat all calls like this seriously, hence why a lot of officers are here. We cannot confirm whether a gun shot took place, but people heard a bang. There are no injuries at present.
“We are appealing to the public if they have any information about the incident to call 101 or Crimestoppers in strictest confidence. If anyone was involved in the incident they can ring us in confidence too.”

Lea Manor High School and Whitefield Primary School kept students inside at lunchtime on police advice and Lea Manor closed early.
