Vauxhall vans get another green gong

Manufacturer gets top fleet award for second year running

Vauxhall's van-making division has taken top spot in an annual green awards ceremony for the second year running.

The company was voted LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) Manufacturer of the Year in the Green Fleet Awards.

The London-based ceremony recognises vehicle manufacturers, suppliers and related industries that have made significant contributions towards reducing their carbon output and furthering their commitment to sustainable transport.

Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles won the inaugral 2006 Green Fleet gong for its low C02 models and gave a repeat performance this time round.

Judges, comprising a panel of motoring journalists, key fleet customers and industry experts, praised the manufacturer for its ongoing commitment to sustainable fuel sources.

B30 Biodiesel fleet trials and availability of Liquid Petroleum Gas on its smaller models were key factors in Vauxhall taking the title.

Vauxhall's parent company, GM, is the country's biggest maker of commercial vehicles - with 100,000 vans a year built at the Luton and Ellesmere Port sites.

The GMM Luton plant builds the Vivaro panel van and its variants.
