VIDEO: Bedfordshire Clanger set to star on big screen

Get a taste of new short film to be shown around county

A short film set in Bedfordshire was launched in style at Luton's Library Theatre, with morris dancers and folk singers performing at the premiere.

The Bedfordshire Clanger, made by Five Feet Films, is a 30-minute short which follows a cyclist on a charity ride travelling through Beds and coming across different people during the ride.

Guests at the premiere took the chance to sample the food that lent the film its name, with Gunns Bakery of Sandy selling 90 of the 100 Bedfordshire clangers they brought along.

Linda Chirrey, who produced the film, said: "Many, many people commented on how nice it was to see Beds on film, to see the countryside portrayed. We're pleased with how it's turned out, we're pleased with the end result.

"It's taken us a little bit longer than we thought it would, but we've tried to maintain the quality and we think that it's worth it."

The Redbornstoke Morris Men and folk singers Life & Times performed at the premiere after contributing to the film.

And cyclists from Icknield Road Club, who provided support during the filming, were also on hand to see the finished product.

Now Five Feet Films are hoping to submit The Bedfordshire Clanger to film festivals and organise small-scale screenings around Beds in village halls and other venues.

The film has been transferred onto high definition to produce a more cinematic experience than a DVD.

But DVDs will also be available to buy from the middle of next month from local suppliers and the film's own website.

Linda particularly paid tribute to the support of Houghton Regis company Graphic Idea, which has designed the posters, the website and the DVD covers.
