Luton swimmer goes for gold
If Ian Norman hadn't gone for a routine health check eight years ago, he would never have realised he had a kidney problem.
Now the 39-year-old transplant recipient, of Sundon Park, is going for swimming gold at the World Transplant Games in Australia in August. He's also hoping to gain more international recognition for the event.
The courier company boss has to take 11 tablets a day, mostly to stop organ rejection. He trains at Bath Road and Lewsey several times a week, wearing a 200 bodyskin suit which his company, Norman Couriers, sponsors.
His partner Dee, 36, and sons Ben, two, and five-year-old Thomas will be rooting for him as he cleaves through the water in seven different categories, including two relays, the 50m butterfly and various freestyle events.
"I'm going to win this time," he promised. "I'm determined and confident."
