VIDEO: Transport minister announces £80 million funding for busway

Transport boost for town set for completion in 2012

Transport Minister Sadiq Khan announced an 80 million government funding package for the new Luton Dunstable Busway at Luton Train Station this morning.

On a flying visit to the town, the minister confirmed the investment which will pave the way for a 'guided busway' which will cover a seven mile stretch from Houghton Regis to Luton Airport.

He said: "When completed, this scheme will benefit the entire community by easing congestion and encouraging greater integration between services."

Following further detailed design work, the main construction of the busway is due to start in December with completion of the project due for April 2012.
