Village tribute to handyman

Sign will be erected in memory of Eddie

Streatley Parish Council is hoping to have a new sign erected in the village, in memory of a handyman who devoted himself to helping others.

Eddie Osborne, who died in 2008, was well known among neighbours who benefited from his help and councillors decided it would be fitting to have a lasting memorial in his name.

Chairman of the council Geoffrey Farr said: "He was a real beaver around the village. He cut grass verges and did repairs.

"To commemorate his death we said we would like to put a sign up in the village - a colour sign - and dedicate it to his memory.

"This was agreed by the council and we are slowly working our way towards that."
