It’s countdown to family fun time with only 39 days to go until Luton International Carnival explodes on the scene in a riot of colour and entertainment.
The town will burst into life when the fiesta kicks off at noon on Sunday, May 24.
So practice those dance steps and try out those whistles – then you’ll be in the mood to enjoy the sound sites situated across Wardown Park and the town centre. They’ll be hosted by local DJs getting everyone in the carnival spirit by playing the hypnotic rhythms of salsa, soca, drum ‘n’ bass beats and much more.
Grab a bite to eat from the tempting array of stalls boasting mouth-watering delicacies from around the world.
But whatever you do, don’t miss the day’s highlight – the carnival procession which leaves from Wardown Park at 1.30pm before meandering through the streets to St George’s Square.
There the carnival bands will showcase their amazing moves and costumes at the judging point before heading back to the Park to continue with the revelry.
UK Centre for Carnival Arts spokesman Hopeton Walker said: “This fanstastic event features what Luton has to offer – the artistic flair, the community involvement and wealth of talent and skills.
“It’s one of the safest carnivals in the country, a great day out for all the family.”
Carnival is sponsored by London Lutin Airport, Arts Council England and Luton Borough Council.
> This year’s event will be a fantastic prelude to next year’s spectacular when carnival celebrates its 40th anniversary in Luton.
