Luton dance school steps to the beat of the Cancer Slam

Wearing legwarmers, sweatbands and bright pink T-shirts, members of Rayners School of Dance will be encouraging women to enter Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, which takes place at Stockwood Park on the weekend of June 21 and 22.

They’ll be doing the energetic dance known as the ‘Cancer Slam’ in The Mall, Luton, at 1pm on Saturday (April 19).

It embodies the passion and determination behind the charity’s rallying cry of ‘Cancer, we’re coming to get you.’

Organisers hope the vibrant performance will stop shoppers in their tracks and motivate mums, grans, daughters, sisters and friends to sign up on the spot.

Dance leader Dallas Smith said: “We’ve had a great time learning the routine. We hope we can inspire women to join in the fun and enter Race for Life.”

> If you’d like to take part in Race for Life and learn how to do the Cancer Slam, visit www.raceforlife.org or call 0845 600 6050. The entry fee is £14.99 for adults and £10 for girls under 16.
