Luton’s first X Factor style talent contest – entitled Unsigned Talent Showcase – has an extraordinary line-up of celebrity judges.
They include Ronnie Canada of the Drifters and O’Jays, award-winning singer Carroll Thompson – who’s worked with everyone from Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson to Robbie Williams and Boy George, as well as MTV music maestro Lindsay Wesker, former BBC The Voice contestant Aundrea Nyle and up-and-coming local singer Relly.
The competition has been organised by not-for-profit online station Luton Urban Radio and will take place on Saturday, April 18 at the University of Bedfordshire’s Student Lounge Bar.
Geoff Schumann – described by The Guardian as a ‘truly gifted performer’ – will host the event with his unique stand-up comedy skills. This well-respected broadcaster and comedian never fails to leave his audience begging for more.
A Luton Urban Radio spokesman said: “Over the course of the last few weeks we’ve managed to whittle down the number of finalists who will be able to showcase their talents on the night.” He added: “As well as an evening of budding stars we will have special live performances from local reggae artist Kirk Milan and hip hop artists from London and the US.”
The winner will receive a recording/marketing contract with Raw Soul Media.
