Malin beats the bullies to be crowned Miss Beds

Teenager crownded as the queen of the county

A teenager has proved she can beat the bullies after she was crowned Miss Bedfordshire 2010.

Malin Andersson of Abbeyfields, Elstow, has won the title of Miss Bedfordshire after battling it out against a bevy of beauties all competing for the popular title.

The 17-year-old who was forced to leave school after she had taken her GCSEs because of bullies, was overjoyed to be crowned the winner of the beauty contest.

She said: "I only really went for it as a bit of a confidence boost because I was feeling quite down because of all the bullying.

"My boyfriend's sister won Miss Cheshire and told me how great it was for her confidence. So I just decided to go for it as a bit of a laugh, but wasn't really expecting to get past the first round."

Malin also spends her time doing some modelling work and she is part of a look-a-like agency where she impersonates Cheryl Cole.

She is now planning to spend the next year working on fundraising for her chosen charity McMillan Cancer Care and she is working with Tescos in Cardington Road to raise money for the Children's Variety Club.

She will now go forward to compete for the prestigious title of Miss England, which is taking place in Birmingham on August 31 and September 1.

She added: "I'm really looking forward to Miss England now. It is a bit nervewracking because it's such a big deal, but I'm quite excited as well.

"There are a couple of things you can do to fast track to the top 20 like create your own eco dress and a sportswear and evening dress, so I'm hoping I can get through on that.

"I'm just going to treat it as a bit of fun like I did the Miss Beds round. I'm going to turn up, have a laugh and see what happens."
