A special community event supporting #NotInMyName, a national movement which started in Luton, is to take place at Luton’s Dallow Community Centre.
The campaign condemns ISIS extremists and encourages Muslims and people of all religious and cultural backgrounds to speak out against the terror organisation.
The event – entitled #NotInMyName ISIS Terror State – has been organised by QUBA Trust, an organisation working closely with young people in the town.
The Trust aims to strengthen the community through the various sporting activities it runs and to provide a safe environment where youngsters can channel their talents and work together to support community causes.
Founder member Dawood Masood said: “We are committed Muslims and proud Lutonians who are insulted by the constant reference to these misguided individuals as ‘Islamic.’ We are stating clearly and categorically that ISIS is not in our name.
“We’ve organised this event to further expand the campaign across Luton and invite people from all religious and cultural backgrounds to attend to make a stand against this terrorist organisation.
“The event will include lectures from Imam Muhammed Asim Hussain and Dr Hafiz Ather Hussain Al Azhari as well as nasheed performances and talks from local community leaders.”
It will take place at the Dallow Community Centre in Dallow Road on Saturday, November 15, from 4.30pm to 7.30pm. Entrance is free but spaces will be limited and seating will be gender-segregated.
