Former Luton Sixth Form College student and people’s poet Lee Nelson takes to the Hat Factory stage on Thursday (March 10) to introduce internationally acclaimed spoken word performer Sophia Walker, who is fresh from addressing the UN’s climate change conference in Paris.

She will perform Around the World in Eight Mistakes – an account of her globetrotting life, highlighting some moments of genuine revelation and terror.

This is her second visit to Luton and she will be supported by Adele Hampton and James McKay.

Glasto and Edinburgh Fringe veteran Lee – who founded Utter! Spoken Word – will compere the event, one of many featuring a galaxy of prestigious artists during the month-long Lutonia festival.

It has been organised by Luton Culture and Steve Abbott, who grew up on Farley Hill and became lead singer with post punk band UK Decay.
