A Luton town centre office block is being eyed for conversion into a gym and student accommodation, the Herald & Post can reveal.

A planning application to redevelop 33-35 Upper George Street was lodged with the council on Feburary 25.

The site sits between the Discover Islam centre and Apex Heights, a five floor student flat complex which opened in September 2013.

It is proposed that a gap in the site’s ground floor will be infilled and extended to allow enough space for a gym, while the upper floors of the block would be converted for student accommodation.
