Don’t let your turkey spoil your Christmas – that’s the festive message from the council’s food safety officers.

They warned home cooks to make sure the bird was defrosted properly and that thawing liquid didn’t drip on to other foods.

Leftovers should be kept in the fridge and thrown away after two days. Don’t reheat cooked meat more than once.
