The Nisa Local store in Toddington has been highly commended in The Best Small Shop 2015 competition run by the All Party Parliamentary Small Shops Group.

Store manager Gary Bilbrough attended a reception at the House of Commons last Wednesday (February 25) to receive the award on behalf of the store.

There were more than 300 entries and applicants were judged on their entrepreneurial activities, innovation and work with the community.

All Party Small Shops Group chairman Simon Danczuk MP said the number and calibre of entries was testament to the “excellent work” carried out across the country.

Mr Bilbrough said successful shops were engrained in the community: “We go the extra mile for our customers. We know many of them by name and if we haven’t seen someone for a while, we’ll check they’re OK.”
