Pop Idol finslaist, Jo Birchall, joined staff from Stonegate Pub Company’s head office on Friday, August 22, to raise money for Variety, a children’s charity.

They took part in Britain’s Biggest Pub Tour, making their way from the head office at Capability Green Business Park to Yates and The Red Lion in the town centre, where Jo Birchall performed her single All About Love, in aid of Variety.

Paul Mulcrone, general manager of The Red Lion, said: “Friday was a fantastic day, the sun shone and everyone was in full party mode. It was wonderful to see so many in fancy dress and for our customers to really join in the spirit of the event.

“There was a surprise flash mob dance to Pharrell Williams’ Happy, which lots of people joined in, outside the pub as well as a professional Irish gig dance.

“Jo Birchall’s performance was amazing of our charity single All About Love. Please take a moment to download the song via itunes, it’s just 99p, to support Jo’s bid for the charts this weekend and to boost funds for Variety, the Children’s Charity.”

The tour will continue around the country, finishing at Slug and Lettuce, Tower Bridge on Friday, September 26. The team raised over £7,000 on Friday and the total is now over £190,000.
