Rhythm Junkeys, a street dance group made up of three to 16 year olds, are fundraising to make their dreams of competing at the finals a reality.

Jazmin-Jade Buckley, the group’s dance teacher, said: “We are looking for help from the public to get the children out there, competing at the competitions.

“It is a lot of money for parents to pay and they don’t want their children to miss out so we are hoping to raise money to ease the burden, the money will go towards flights, costumes and any other expenses.

“There are about 30 children that have qualified, some of them as young as six which is a great achievement, we are just hoping to raise as much as possible.

“We are grateful for anyone that can help the group and make a donation.”

One of the dancers that is hoping to compete at the championships is six-year-old Sorayiah, her mum Charmaine said:

“Sorayiah is six years old and has only been dancing with Phoenix Starr since October. She entered her first competition in December where she came first in her solo making her qualify for European and World championships.

“She trains for more than 11 hours a week and her hard work and dedication has truly paid off.

“As a parent of a child with such great talent I am asking for the local community to help the children of Phoenix Starr to raise the funds to get them to attend these two major events.

“These kids have fire in their hearts and great passion for dance.

“It would be fantastic to give them the opportunity to bring home the title and show the world Luton has some real talented children.”
