A Luton teen is closer to her dream of working in musical theatre after being accepted onto a prestigious company– but needs funds to make the ambition a reality.

Georgina Onuorah, 15, was amongst 3000 auditionees for Youth Music Theatre UK, but managed to fight her way through as one of 300 accepted onto the course.

The London-based company is nationally renowned for turning out stars of tomorrow – with Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Jack Bence and Lauren Samuels among the alumni.

However the course comes at a cost of £1,245, which will cover Georgina’s accommodation, food and pastoral care.

The 15-year-old is set to organise fundraisers to achieve her target– she has also created an online fund for donations.

Georgina, who has already been cast in a YMT UK production, said: “Music has transformed my life and it has helped me overcome shyness and a lack of confidence. It is my dream to work in musical theatre.

“I want to seize this amazing opportunity to explore, learn and participate in professional theatre.”
